Gratitude

Updated: Jan 11, 2023

It is our tradition at Empowerment 4 Girls to express our gratitude to our community at the closing of each year. 2022 has been another year of accomplishments, challenges, and transitions. Through it all, we have gained strength and clarity for our work to manifest our vision of a just world where all youth are confident, resilient, and resourceful with the support and guidance of our community. We couldn't do this work without you! Thanks to everyone who donated their time, talents, passion, and financial resources to Empowerment 4 Girls. Community Power Rocks!

As we say goodbye to 2022, the Staff and Board of Directors of Empowerment 4 Girls would like to acknowledge and express our gratitude for our founder, Kristen Rubis.

Kristen began offering Yoga Camps 4 Girls in Olympia in 2007 to counteract the bullying she saw among adolescent and teen school children. In 2016 she worked with women in her community to start Empowerment 4 Girls as a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We have been hosting week-long and one-day programs inspired by Kristen’s early camp templates since 2017.

We are grateful for the creative energy, enthusiasm, and passion she poured into planting the founding seed of this little nonprofit.

Kristen recently completed her leadership role with Empowerment 4 Girls. We wish her all the best as she continues to follow her path of service to the community.

As our founder and best community advocate, we would not be here without her.

Thank you, Kristen!

From a well-nourished seed, a strong and sturdy sapling is growing.

As Empowerment 4 Girls continues its journey, the legacy of Kristen’s work to educate, nurture, and empower adolescent girls is being shared with more youth and families and in more communities than ever before.

Through our Teen Volunteer Program, we have created a pathway for youth to follow as they navigate their journeys from adolescence to adulthood. Youth who have been coming to our programs for years are joining program staff in our Empowerment, Conscious Minds Conscious Bodies® and Story Hour 2 Empower programs to help mentor and support the next generation of youth.

Empowering youth to change the world is a HUGE undertaking!

Because we need all hearts, minds, and hands on deck, we are committed to supporting and learning from all program staff, participants, volunteers, and guest presenters, valuing them as integral members of an empowering community of change agents.

Empowerment 4 Girls will continue to collaborate with individuals and organizations in Olympia and beyond to move forward in our mission to provide all girls with the tools, life skills, and support network to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally in their adolescence and throughout their lives.
